Sr. Public Relations Director Coordinator

Summary: The Sr. Public Relations Director will help oversee the public relations team and ensure that campaigns are delivered on time and under budget. Will be a senior member of the communications team and reports to the director of public relations and communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be flexible and creative, adapt at building relationships internally with core stakeholders and externally with media and key influencers regionally, nationally, and globally.
  • Develop and execute integrated PR plans, set overall objectives, and provide counsel to senior management, department heads, and the CEO is required.
  • Maximize brand presence via various channels (print, electronic, online, and OTT platforms, etc.).
  • Respond to over the transom and ad hoc media and internal requests as they arise.
  • Vet and facilitate media interviews, speaking engagements and assorted public appearances for the CEO, provide media training, and craft briefing documents.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media and external influencers, locally, nationally and glob ally
  • Develop outreach plans and strategies to reach new and existing outlets and channels
  • Write effective pitches, media alerts, press releases and other materials that garner coverage
  • Aid in crisis management as required, crafting/posting statements and outreaching to media
  • Promote and maintain a positive image for the organization, representing the brand externally at industry and other conferences and events
  • Design and lead publicity campaigns, monitor outcomes and opportunities, report on results
  • Assign and review tasks led by junior team members
  • Oversee manage day to day functions of the in-house team, manage external agencies

Qualifying Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • BA/BS PR, Journalism, Communications, English, Business, or related field.
  • 10 – 15 years of experience.
  • Proven track record of getting results at an in-house public relations department or PR agency.
  • Strong network of media contacts locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior executives
  • Collegial, collaborative, and open to new ideas
  • Professional, and able to articulate the strategies and rationale to non-PR professionals
  • Brings full spectrum of public relations knowledge and abilities, able to run agency teams and other vendors
  • Knowledge of event execution, promotion, and publicity
  • Knowledge of non-profit environment or corporate setting a plus
  • Strong leadership, project management and general management skills
  • Experience in in-house or agency setting as a senior leader mentoring junior staff member’s
  • Ability to plan and execute end-to-end campaigns and report on outcomes vis-à-vis the strategy
  • Knowledge of budget planning and management, able to deliver on time and under budget
  • Confident and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with various personality types
  • Outstanding interpersonal and persuasion skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, with confident presentation and verbal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to make video and audio news releases
  • Knowledge of data and analytics and use of Infographics
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Driven, detail and deadline oriented, proactive, and able to identify next steps well in advance
  • Knowledge of all core PR tactics and strategies, planning, and implementation
  • Able to drive reports and document outcomes, working knowledge of Cision a plus
  • Familiarity with social media strategies, tactics, and platforms
  • Ability to inspire creativity, motivate and invigorate the environment
