Communications and Public Relations Coordinator
Summary: The Communications and Public Relations Coordinator will work with the Executive Director of Public Relations and Communications Directors to coordinate external communications, public, and media campaigns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafts alerts, press releases, briefing documents, scripts, presentations, activity reports and other materials
- Produces a monthly internal newsletter for the organization
- Measures impact of various campaigns and provides metrics via Cision
- Maintains relationship with Cision and other department vendors
- Cultivates new and existing local media relationships
- Supports ongoing event promotion and national outreach efforts
- Conducts research to formulate story ideas and pitches in collaboration with the Directors
- Packages background information and data for special assignments
- Fields and evaluates incoming media requests, recommends, or declines opportunities
- Supports interdepartmental relationships and handles over the transom requests
- Works closely with internal and external stakeholders; ensures smooth working relationships
- Identifies new resources and provide insights into industry or consumer trends
- Represents the overall brand at industry and media/PR events
- Research and compiles clip reports, and other presentation materials upon request
- Contributes to the overall coordination of projects and campaigns
- Assists team in planning and executing media or VIP events
- Provides supplemental team support as needed
Qualifying Educations, Experience, and Skills:
- BA/BS degree in PR/Communications, Journalism, English, Business required.
- 1-2 years of full-time experience in public relations, communications, or journalism.

- Bonus: experience with PR agency, advertising or marketing communications firm or in-house PR department
- Innovative, creative, and resourceful
- Strong administrative skills in tracking activities, budgets and facilitating reports
- Excellent written and verbal skills, able to proofread and communicate effectively
- Strong media relations capabilities and ability to build and maintain key relationships
- Knowledge of latest tools of the trade, technologies, and other communications resources
- Professional presence, able to articulate case in a group setting, present new ideas
- Proactive, deadline oriented and proficient at time and task management
- Experience with digital and social media platforms
- Basic understanding of analytics and data-driven PR tactics and research is a plus
- Works efficiently and effectively with others as an individual contributor
- Ability to juggle multiple projects while tracking the forward progress on all assignments
- Always maintains confidentiality
- Detailed oriented, able to thrive in a dynamic environment, performs under pressure
- Learning oriented; desires professional growth; able to apply feedback with a positive attitude
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong graphic design skills.
- Ability to monitor and manage various media and social/digital media platforms
